Irrigation development is one of the activities being carried out in the District to ensure the livelihood of the community. To achieve this goal, irrigation water supply has been focused on and water strengthening works have been carried out especially in the Horticultural Districts.
The governor of East Bale district, Ab Jarso Boru, told us that the irrigation work is being done to cultivate wheat on more than 30,000 hectares of land in the district this year. To achieve this, work is being done to provide water to traditional, modern irrigation and pumps and we are saving money so that people who cannot afford pumps can get loans, he said.
From now on, we are working to prepare the irrigation schemes for service, he said.
