Irrigation projects are underway in Qellam Wallagga Zone. These projects are being implemented in areas where there is a shortage of water.
The status of these projects was discussed with the Deputy Head of the Bureau of Irrigation and Pastoralist Development and Head of Irrigation and Infrastructure Development Sector of Oromia Engineer Alamuu Raggaasaa and the Chief Executive Officer of Oromia Engineering Corporation Engineer Daawwit Baqqalaa and stakeholders the work of Qexoo Project in Sadii Canqaa and Hawwaagalan districts was visited.
The purpose of the visit is to observe the construction status of these projects, identify the existing shortcomings, discuss how to solve them and set direction on how to complete them on time and prepare them for service. The visit also revealed that the work of Birbir before Qexoo Project is currently stalled and should start soon. Although the work of Qexoo Project is not being carried out as planned, it is in a promising state. In Qexoo Project, construction of 40 km of irrigation dams and ditches has been done on the right side and is being done on the left side.
In conclusion, Engineer Alamuun said that the irrigation projects under construction are being closely monitored and supported so that they can provide services to the community.
