The state is planning to grow wheat on 2.5 million hectares of land this year.

There are 400,000 hectares of land in Jimma. The 2016 irrigation preparations were discussed in the presence of the Bureau of Irrigation and Horticulture Development and the Offices of Irrigation and Agriculture Development of the District. The purpose of the forum is to review the status of irrigation development preparations for 2016 as a district.
